Seliz Stream, a Nigeria-born music platform founded in June 2023, says it’s rebuilding streaming economics in West Africa by paying listeners for every minute streamed and offering fast, local payouts to artists via Chipper Cash (9PSB). In an interview with OlyBee.com/News, company leaders said the service has onboarded 10,000+ Nigerian artists and is “engineering for African realities” rather than copying global models.
“If your minutes power the culture, your minutes should pay you back,” said Christian Sunday, CEO of Seliz Stream. “Listeners aren’t just consumers; they’re co-creators.”
The company argues the current system undervalues African creativity and audiences, pointing to cases where artists earn ~$300 for 100,000 streams on mainstream platforms, while listeners pay rising subscription and data costs.
“We’re cutting unnecessary middlemen and using a decentralized dashboard so both sides see value faster,” added Adams Cosmas, CTO. “It’s transparent: real-time accruals, clear rules, no vague ‘points-only’ economy.”
Rhoda Modebitoyemi, Chief Talent Manager, said Seliz is deliberately spotlighting plural African sound—beyond Afrobeats—through human-led, data-informed curation: Highlife, Fuji, Amapiano, Alté, Makossa, Gospel and more. “Editorial doors like Palm-Wine Revival, North Star (Arewa), Alté Nights, and Soukous Circuit are designed as entry points into scenes, not token playlists,” she told OlyBee.
