Xiaomi’s T series has always operated on a particular rhythm: arrive slightly after the flagship wave, offer premium hardware at a step-down price, then gradually become a bargain as the months pass. The Xiaomi 17T Pro, which arrived just eight months after the Xiaomi 15T Pro, follows that same playbook and for buyers who can wait a little, it may well deliver one of 2026’s better smartphone value propositions.
GSMArena, which published its full review on May 28, 2026, gave the device a score of 4.4 out of 5.
Specs That Mean Business
The 17T Pro is powered by the Dimensity 9500, MediaTek’s flagship chipset for 2026, running on a 3nm process a meaningful step up from last year’s model and considerably more powerful than the Dimensity 8500 found in the standard Xiaomi 17T.
The display is a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ support, and a dense 447ppi pixel density. Under the hood, buyers can choose between 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, all paired with 12GB of RAM. The device ships with Android 16 and HyperOS 3, and Xiaomi is committing to five years of major OS updates.
The most significant hardware upgrade over its predecessor is the battery. The 17T Pro carries a 7,000mAh cell a substantial jump paired with 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and newly added 22.5W reverse wired charging.
Build quality is strong throughout. The device measures 162.2 x 77.5 x 8.25mm and weighs 219g, with Gorilla Glass 7i protecting both the front and back, an aluminium frame, and IP68 certification rated for submersion up to 3 metres for 30 minutes.
Camera System
Photography is one of the 17T Pro’s clearest strengths. The triple rear camera system is led by a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, a large 1/1.31-inch sensor size, and OIS. It is joined by a 50MP periscope telephoto camera delivering 5x optical zoom at 115mm, also with OIS, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens covering a 120-degree field of view.
Video capabilities extend to 8K at 30fps, 4K at up to 120fps, and slow-motion at 960fps in 1080p with 10-bit Rec. 2020 colour and HDR10+ support throughout. The front camera is a 32MP shooter capable of 4K video.
GSMArena’s reviewers noted the telephoto camera as a standout, highlighting meaningful improvements over the 15T Pro’s 5x zoom. The ultra-wide lens, however, lacks autofocus a limitation noted in the cons.
The Battery Is the Real Story
The 17T Pro once again impresses with great all-round camera hardware, an excellent display, a high-performance chipset, and speedy wired and wireless charging. This year, the handset also stands out in the battery life race with solid endurance. The 7,000mAh cell represents the biggest single improvement over the previous generation, and reviewers found it genuinely differentiating in daily use.
Software and Connectivity
Running HyperOS 3 on top of Android 16, the 17T Pro arrives with a feature-rich software layer and a five-year update commitment competitive with Samsung’s Galaxy S series for long-term ownership confidence. Connectivity covers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, an infrared port, and eSIM support alongside a physical SIM slot.
How It Compares
The higher-end competition includes the OnePlus 15, Realme GT 8 Pro, and Honor 600 Pro, all priced under β¬800. While the 17T Pro holds its own with the Dimensity 9500 chip, it doesn’t match the raw performance of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powering the OnePlus and Realme. On cameras, though, the 17T Pro is probably the better pick, especially with its native 5x zoom and the Honor 600 Pro is the only rival that comes close on that front, despite a shorter 3.5x reach.
Within Xiaomi’s own lineup, the Poco X8 Pro Max at β¬450 offers a toned-down version of the same Dimensity 9500 chip and a massive battery with even longer life, while the Poco F8 Ultra, sitting under β¬700, edges out the 17T Pro with a more powerful processor, lower price, similar camera hardware, and better loudspeakers with a built-in subwoofer. The 17T Pro’s only advantage over both is battery life.
Verdict
As is typical for the Xiaomi T series, the initial pricing is what prevents an outright recommendation. The 17T Pro launches at β¬900 for the base 12GB/256GB configuration β¬100 more than last year which puts it up against more powerful devices. But for buyers reading this a few months post-launch, the 17T Pro may well represent an excellent all-rounder with flagship-level hardware at a more palatable price point. If you’re not in a hurry, waiting makes sense.
Pros: Premium build with IP68, bright Dolby Vision OLED display, outstanding camera performance including the telephoto, fast wired and wireless charging, excellent battery life, powerful chipset, and five years of OS updates.
Cons: Ultra-wide has no autofocus, selfie camera is average, the 144Hz refresh rate is rarely fully utilised, wired charging is slightly stepped down from the 15T Pro, loudspeakers disappoint, and the launch price is steep.
